Closed Circle Rebreather Courses (CCR)
Poséidon Se7en CCR Diver
The CCR Diver (40m) course teaches a qualified open-circuit diver to dive with a Poseidon Se7en. You will get a thorough grounding in rebreather technology, alongside unit-specific training, and learn how to adapt your existing diving skills to a new world where you benefit from always breathing an optimum gas mix.
To enroll on the CCR Diver (40m) course you must have successfully completed a BSAC Sports Diver course with 35-metre depth certification, and have at least 50 logged dives. You also need to be an Accelerated Decompression Diver or Advanced Nitrox Diver (or have equivalent certification from another recognized training agency).
MOD 1 AP Vision CCR Diver
The MOD 1 AP Vision CCR Diver course teaches a qualified open-circuit diver to dive with an AP Vision rebreather (EVO, EVP or XPD). You will get a thorough grounding in rebreather technology, alongside unit-specific training, and learn how to adapt your existing diving skills to a new world where you benefit from always breathing an optimum gas mix.
To enroll on the MOD 1 AP Vision CCR Diver course you must have successfully completed a BSAC Sports Diver course, or equivalent, with 35-metre depth certification. You also need to be an Accelerated Decompression Diver or Advanced Nitrox Diver, or have equivalent certification from another recognized training agency.
MOD 1 AP Mixed Gas Top-up
The MOD 1 AP Mixed Gas Top-up course qualifies a diver with an existing AP Vision air diluent qualification to use trimix. As well as extending the maximum depth of the qualification from 40 to 45 meters, use of trimix will also reduce gas density and narcosis giving a significantly enhanced experience. You will get additional training on the benefits of trimix, how to plan trimix CCR dives and complete two open water dives with mandatory decompression.
To enroll on the MOD 1 AP Mixed Gas Top-up Course you must have successfully completed a BSAC AP Vision CCR course, or equivalent, using air as the diluent. On successful completion of the course, you will be awarded the MOD 1 AP Vision CCR Diver (45m) qualification allowing you to dive with 20/35 trimix as the diluent.
MOD 2 CCR Diver
BSAC’s MOD 2 CCR Diver course is a great way to extend your existing CCR diving skills by learning how to safely dive to 60m. You’ll learn to safely plan deeper closed-circuit rebreather diving, manage two bailout cylinders, and deal with any issues that may arise underwater.
To attend this course you must have already successfully completed MOD 1 AP Vision CCR Diver course, the old air diluent CCR course, or equivalent from another recognized training agency. Additionally, students must have:
- 50 dives and 50 hours diving with a CCR
- 25 dives and 25 hours diving with the type of CCR being used on the course
- 10 CCR dives to at least 30m with decompression at multiple levels
The minimum age to commence the course is 18 years old
Advanced Mixed Gas CCR Diver (80m)
Advanced Mixed Gas CCR Diver (80m) is the ultimate step in BSAC’s closed-circuit mixed-gas training. It introduces an experienced CCR Diver (40m) to diving with an extended choice of trimix gases, and qualifies them to dive such mixes to depths of up to 80m. There are various routes to enroll on the Advanced Mixed Gas CCR Diver (80m) course. You must be at least 18 years old and be able to demonstrate high proficiency to dive a rebreather, usually with between 80 and 100 CCR dives logged. This means you may have successfully completed either a CCR Diver (40m) course, or a Sport Mixed Gas CCR Diver (50m) course (or have equivalent certification from another recognized training agency).
If you have already completed an Explorer Mixed Gas CCR Diver (60m), Advanced Mixed Gas Diver (80m) or Explorer Mixed Gas Diver (60m) course, at your instructors discretion you may not have to repeat some common course elements.
Open – Circuit mixed gas courses
Sport Mixed Gas Diver (50m)
The Sport Mixed Gas Diver course introduces an experienced Accelerated Decompression Procedures (ADP) diver to the use of trimix as a breathing gas. You will become qualified to dive such mixes to depths of up to 50m using a twin-set and single stage cylinder. To enroll on the Sport Mixed Gas Diver Course you must be 18 years or older. You must have already successfully completed a BSAC Sport Diver course with a 35m depth certification and a BSAC ADP course (or have equivalent certification from BSAC as an Advanced Nitrox Diver, or from another recognized training agency). You should be proficient at diving, with say 60 or more logged dives, of which 10 should have been at depths of between 30m and 35m.
Explorer Mixed Gas Diver (60m)
Explorer Mixed Gas Diver introduces a Sport Mixed Gas Diver (50m) to the use of a travel gas to support diving with normoxic trimix, and qualifies them to dive such mixes to depths of up to 60m using a twin-set and two stage cylinders.
To enroll on the Explorer Mixed Gas Diver Course you must be at least 18 years old and have already successfully completed a Sport Mixed Gas Diver (50m) course (or have equivalent certification from another recognized training agency). You should be proficient at deeper diving, with 30 or more logged dives in the 30m to 50m range and have dived to 30m or deeper in the 4 weeks leading up to this course.
Advanced Mixed Gas Diver (80m)
Advanced Mixed Gas Diver (80m) course is the ultimate step in BSAC open-circuit mixed-gas training. It introduces a Sport Mixed Gas Diver (50m) or Explorer Mixed Gas Diver (60m) to diving with an extended choice of trimix gases, and qualifies them to dive such mixes to depths of up to 80m, using a twin-set and a minimum of two stage cylinders.
To enroll on the Advanced Mixed Gas Diver (80m) course you must be at least 18 years old and be a Sports Diver with 35m depth certification. You also need to have completed a Sport Mixed Gas Diver (50m) course, an Extended Range Diver course (a BSAC legacy qualification) or have equivalent certification from another recognized training agency. You should be very proficient at deeper diving, with say 100 or more logged dives. If you are already an Explorer Mixed Gas Diver (60m) some of the course elements are discretionary.
